THE CHALLENGE

For adventure motorcyclist within Southern Africa the name ‘Sani Pass’ is often spoken about as a ‘must ride’ destination as it’s one of Africa’s most iconic mountain passes. Every time we’ve taken on Sani the road and weather conditions are different providing us with new challenges for both man & machine.

We thought we’d add one more challenge to Sani and to head there during the middle of winter. As long as you’ve got the right riding gear, the cold will make no difference and it makes those evening fire’s that much sweeter.

THE RIDING

This adventure is a great opportunity to enjoy backcountry routes along the Drakensberg mountains leading up to Sani Pass. Where' we’ll have a few days exploring around the Underberg area.

Each day’s riding distance is manageable to ensure you enjoy the route at a comfortable pace with time to spare for any breakdowns and also ensuring we make it to our accommodation in the evening with plenty of time to relax before sundown.

Overall this route is welcoming to newer riders who have built up some level of confidence in their riding ability. Sani Pass will be the challenging part where you will need to be very comfortable with how your bike handles off-road.

Are you asking yourself, ‘Do I have the skills to take on Sani Pass?’ Give us a call. We’re happy to have a chat with you to find out your level of experience and if this adventure is for you!

THE ACCOMMODATION

No more backpacker/budget style options.

For this adventure all guests can select whether they want to have private or shared rooms with no more than 2 guests sharing per room. All rooms will have en-suite bathrooms and adequate bedding. No need to bring any linen or towels (unless you want to go swimming in a river).

THE BONAFIDE SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE

We've always been of the mindset that Bonafide Moto Co. curates adventures, rather than tours. The reasoning is simple – we're adventurers at heart.

To us, adventures come with ups and downs along the way. Some days are easy, while others will challenge you. Either way, you’ll reach your journey's end with a feeling of real accomplishment.

Bonafide Moto Co. adventures are carefully designed to encapsulate the true spirit of adventure travel. They take you along paths unknown, push the limits of your skills, make you work for your reward – and most of all, bring like-minded people together.

Adventures are all about a team effort. Each person finds a role, assisting others when they need help and knowing that each of us is in this together.

We pride ourselves on having the ability to create this camaraderie, with many of our guests returning year-on-year to rekindle those lasting friendships at the end of every day around the fire.

If you’re looking for an easy outride – this one isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a motorcycle adventure that will challenge you, make you part of a team, and help you grow as an individual – this is your next adventure and we look forward to hosting you!

Whether you're looking for an ice cold Maluti at the top or a Hot Chocolate you'll be well rewarded for your efforts!

  • It’s a relaxed morning on this day, and we’ll aim to head down the pass around 1100 to start making our way to Nottingham Road.
